Varnville- A Celebration of Life in Remembrance of Ms. Edna Lou Green, 57, of 90 Maple Street, Apartment C16, will be held Thursday, January 13, 2011, 2:00 P.M. at Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina. Interment will follow in Ellis Cemetery of Varnville. Reverend Dr. Van E. Gaines will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, January 12, 2011 from 6-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Washington’s Funeral Home of Hampton, South Carolina.
Ms. Edna Lou Green succumbed to eternal rest on Sunday, January 9, 2011. The call was heard at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Mr. Dave Green and Mrs. Bessie Lou Green.
She was known to many as “Aunt Edna” or “Lou”. Ms. Green was educated by the former North District Training School, Varnville, South Carolina. At a young age, she acknowledged Christ as her personal Savior and became a baptized member of Samaritan Missionary Baptist Church, Varnville, South Carolina, where she served faithfully until her health began to fail.
Ms. Green was gainfully employed for fifteen (15) years at the former Hampton General Hospital, Varnville, South Carolina as a dietician.
She leaves a devoted family to cherish her everlasting memories. They are: (1) Sister, Ms. Gloria Green of Varnville, South Carolina; (3) Aunts: Mrs. Mary Jenkins (Melvin), who was a special and devoted aunt, Varnville, South Carolina, Ms. Lillie M. Cohen and Mrs. Sadie Green, both of Estill, South Carolina; A devoted and loving niece and nephew whom Ms. Green assisted in rearing: Mrs. Bessie Morris (Lee) and Mr. David Green (Patricia), all of Varnville, South Carolina; (1) Great niece whom she loved as her own, Ms. Dana Morris of Varnville, South Carolina; Loving and devoted cousins: Mr. Haiston Green and Ms. Vera Mae Campbell, both of Varnville, South Carolina; (6) Great nieces; (5) Great nephews; Numerous cousins and sympathizing friends, including a special friend, Mr. Danny Joe Green of Varnville, South Carolina.
