Varnville-Deacon Hammie Lee Moore, Jr., 75, of 815 Sandy Run Road was eulogized on Wednesday, November 16, 2011, 12 Noon at Antioch Christian Church, Mill Pond Road, Varnville, South Carolina. Interment was held in the Antioch Church Cemetery.
Washington's Funeral Home of Hampton assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
The Obituary
Deacon Hammie Lee “Bubba” Moore, Jr., the son of the late Mr. Hammie L. Moore, Sr. and Mrs. Desser L. Council, was born May 23, 1936 in Hampton County, South Carolina. He entered into eternal rest Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Memorial Health University Center, Savannah, Georgia.
He was educated by the public schools of Hampton County. Deacon Hammie Lee Moore, Jr. was a retired employee of the former Embler Door Company of Varnville, South Carolina, where he worked for thirty-two (32) years. Upon retirement, he pursued his avid love and gift of carpentry and gardening. “Bubba”, as he was affectionately called, served faithfully and diligently performing maintenance, odds and ends for Antioch Christian Church, Varnville, South Carolina, where he was a lifelong member.
Deacon Moore was a devoted husband to Mrs. Polly Davis Moore whom he wedded on May 8, 1966. This union was blessed with three children. One daughter, Maureen, preceded him in death.
Fond memories will forever be cherished by his wife, Mrs. Polly D. Moore of the home; (3) Daughters: Loretta Joyner of Patterson, New Jersey, Andrea Aiken of West Palm Beach, Florida and Adrienne Moore of Varnville, South Carolina; Grandchildren: Tara, Tiffany, Breon, Brenden, Alexis and Zion; (5) Sisters: Virginia Doctor (Deacon Shellie) and Pauline Davis, both of Varnville, South Carolina, Betty Lee of St. Louis, Illinois, Cenia Buckner (Deacon Joe) of Varnville, South Carolina and Cynthia Buckner; (1) Brother, John Moore of Varnville, South Carolina; (1) Aunt, Florrie Thompson of Varnville, South Carolina; (4) Sisters-in-law: Dorothy Murdaugh of Fairfax, South Carolina, Ruth Davis and Betty Henderson, both of Varnville, South Carolina and Deacon Hattie Folk of Hampton, South Carolina; (2) Brothers-in-law: Deacon Dan Davis (Ethel) of Varnville, South Carolina and Deacon William Davis (Ozella) of Fairfax, South Carolina; Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and loyal friends.
