Blackville, South Carolina - Mother Mattie Bernice Salley, 95, of 5670 Lartigue Street died Friday, April 27, 2012 at her residence in Blackville, South Carolina.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012, 2:30 P.M. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Lees, South Carolina. Pastor Freddie L. Wright is the pastor and eulogist. Committal, interment and final prayer will take place in Hope Memorial Park of Barnwell, South Carolina.
Visitation will be Friday, May 4, 2012, 6-8:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 3572 Dexter Avenue, Blackville, South Carolina.
Washington Funeral Home of Hampton has been entrusted with final arrangements.
Mother Mattie Bernice Sally was born December 24, 1916 in Blackville, South Carolina to the late Mr. James Donaldson and Mrs. Mary Harley Donaldson. At an early age, Mother Mattie Salley professed Christ as Savior and became a baptized member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Lees, South Carolina.
She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Mr. Clarence Salley and three children: Mr. Clarence Salley, Jr., Mrs. Genell Williams and Mr. Eugene Salley.
To cherish fond memories and mourn her home going are: Five daughters, Mattie Snipes of Williston, Margaret Tyler, Emma Brown, Betty Gathers and Mary Salley, all of Blackville; One son, James (Carolyn) Salley of Blackville; One son-in-law; One daughter-in-law; One sister, Ms. Margaret Gadsden of Blackville, South Carolina; One sister-in-law, Ms. Alice Armstrong of Blackville, South Carolina; Twenty-two grandchildren; Forty great grandchildren; Eleven great great grandchildren; A host of god-children, nieces, nepews, other relatives and friends.
