Allendale---Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Rebecca Major Warren, 58, of 1015 Waters Avenue, Apt. A1, will be held Saturday, January 26, 2008, 1:00 p.m. at New Castle Baptist Church, Pineland, South Carolina. Committal, Interment and Final Prayers will be conducted in New Castle Cemetery.

The family will receive visitation of friends Friday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Washington's Funeral Home of Hampton is in charge.


Mrs. Betty Rebecca Major Warren, daughter of Mrs. Bettie G. Major and the late Mr. Willie Major, was born October 19, 1949 in Hampton County, South Carolina. She peacefully succumbed to the Master’s call, Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the residence of her mother in Pineland, South Carolina.
 The former Dixson Elementary School, Estill, South Carolina and the former Estill Training School, Estill, South Carolina, educated Mrs. Major. She was a retired employee of Falcon Industries, Estill, South Carolina.

At a young age, Mrs. Betty Rebecca Major Warren came to Christ, professing Him as her personal Savior. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Eddie Warren, Jr.

To cherish memories and mourn her departure are: Her mother, Mrs. Bettie G. Major of Pineland, South Carolina; Her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna J. Gordon of Estill, South Carolina; (8) Sisters: Ms. Kathlean Warren Forrest (Mr. James) of Fairfax, South Carolina, Missionary Jeanette Goldwire (Mr. Johnnie) of Clyo, Georgia, Mrs. Glennie Williams (Mr. Marvin) and Mrs. Runnett Major, both of Pineland, South Carolina, Mrs. Rosa Taylor of Maryland, Mrs. Shirley Cohen and Mrs. Ethel B. Cohen
, both of Newark, New Jersey, and Mrs. Agnes Coleman of Virginia; (8) Brothers: Mr. Willie Major, Jr. (Mrs. Cynthia) of Miami, Florida, Mr. Harold Major (Mrs. Ella) of Pineland, South Carolina, Mr. Kenneth Major, Mr. Rudolph Major and Mr. Issac Major, all of Pineland, South Carolina, Minister Anthony Major (Minister Leola) of Furman, South Carolina, Mr. Marion Major (Mrs. Loretta) of Varnville, South Carolina and Mr. Daryl Major (Mrs. Tamie) of Springfield, Georgia; (1) Uncle, Mr. John Tucker Gordon of Miami, Florida; (4) Aunts: Mrs. Willie Mae Graves of Pineland, South Carolina, Mrs. Mary E. Mikell of Estill, South Carolina, Mrs. Aretha Jones of Atlanta, Georgia and Mrs. Mamie Martin of Greenwood, South Carolina; (1) Brother-in-law, Mr. Freddie Warren of Pineland, South Carolina; (4) Sisters-in-law: Mother Tomazein Gordon (Deacon Johnnie) of Varnville, South Carolina, Mrs. Brenda Brown (Minister Marion), Mrs. Mary Newsome (Mr. Chester) and Mrs. Beulah Jones (Mr. Wilson) of Scotia, South Carolina; Two adopted daughters, Myecha Miley, and Renee Fields (Mr. Yank Outing), both of Allendale, South Carolina; Adopted grand children: Tanaysha and Jeffrey Taylor; Mia, Breann and Jaqueris Fields; (5) god-children: Elrick L. Major, Willie J. Newton, Jennifer R. Newton, Anthonio Major and Tiffany L. Newton; Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends (including Ellen Kinlaw, Will Youmans, Louise Walker, Verdell Doe, Minister Ruth A. Thomas and Peggy Walker). 

Brooklyn, New York---Funeral service for Mr. Mack Grant, 55 will be held Sunday, January 27, 2008, 2:00 p.m. at Antioch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Varnville with committal, interment and final prayers in Antioch Cemetery.


The family will receive visitation of friends Saturday evening 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Washington’s Funeral Home of Hampton.


Mr. Mack Grant entered into eternal rest Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Down State Medical Hospital, Brooklyn, New York.  Born July 31, 1952 in Hampton County, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Mr. Leonard Grant, Sr. and Mrs. Izella Moore Grant.

 

He was educated by the public schools of Hampton County, South Carolina (the former North District Training School).  At an early age, he became a baptized member of Antioch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Varnville, South Carolina.

 

In 1973, he was united in holy matrimony to the former Ms. Janell Clark; to this union, two children were born.

 

He was employed by V. C. Vitanizo & Son as a plumber.

 

One sister, Mrs. Oretha Joyner, and one brother, Mr. Floyd Grant preceded him in death.

 

To cherish memories are: His wife, Mrs. Janell  M. Grant of Brooklyn, New York; (2) Sons: Mr. Derrick Grant (Mrs. Alfreda) and Mr. Tommy Kelly (Mrs. Keenya), both of Hampton, South Carolina; (1) Daughter, Ms. Kiesha Grant of Brooklyn, New York; (8) Grandchildren: which includes A special granddaughter reared in the home, Torish Grant, Derrick, Ja’Nela, Shandrea, Junior, Adonis, Tori and Travien; (3) Sisters: Ms. Carolyn Davis & Mrs. Margaret Blue, both of Hampton, South Carolina and Ms. Luemisha Stone of Beaufort, South Carolina; (3) Step-sisters; (3) Brothers: Mr. Leonard Grant, Jr. (Mrs. Mae) of Bronx, New York, Mr. John Grant (Mrs. Hilda) of Hampton, South Carolina and Mr. Willie James Grant (Mrs. Bernice) of Varnville, South Carolina; (1) Step brother; (2) Aunts: Ms. Rose Howard of St. Helena Island, South Carolina and Mrs. Clara Doctor of Varnville, South Carolina; (3) Uncles: Mr. Jackie Blidge (Mrs. Ophry) of Brooklyn, New York, Pastor Thomas Doctor (Mrs. Dorothy) and Deacon Shellie Doctor (Mrs. Virginia), all of Varnville, South Carolina; His mother-in-law, Mrs. Janie Clark of Varnville, South Carolina; His father-in-law, Mr. Lee Clark of Varnville, South Carolina; His step father-in-law; Mr. Jimmy Heyward of Varnville, South Carolina. (3) Sisters-in-law: Ms. Deborah Grant of Varnville, South Carolina, Ms. Vanessa Jordan and Ms. Regina Clark, both of Brooklyn, New York; (7) Brothers-in-law: Mr. Bernard Clark (Mrs. Lisa), Mr. Nathan Clark (Mrs. Joyce),  Mr. Darrlyn Clark, Mr. Kenny Clark, Mr. Eugene Clark, Mr. Maurice Clark (Mrs. Lolita) and Mr. Jonathan Clark, all of Brooklyn, New York; An adopted mother, Mrs. Queen Thompson of Early Branch, South Carolina; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sympathizing friends.
