Mr. Johnnie Lee Joyner died Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Beaufort, S. C.  He was born on November 18, 1941 in Varnville, South Carolina to the late Mr. Joe S. Joyner and Mrs. Bertha L Walker-Joyner.  He was educated in the Hampton County Public School System.  At an early age, he became a baptized member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church of Varnville. 

In 1961, Mr. Joyner married the love of his life, the late Mrs. Oretha Grant-Joyner; and, to this union five children were born.  At an early age, he relocated his family to Patterson, New Jersey.  As a provider for his household, he became a master of many trades.  He took pride in them all!  He, however, took the most pride in his position with Agape Sanitation Department of New Jersey.  He worked there for thirty-two years, thereafter retiring.  Upon retirement, Mr. Johnnie Lee Joyner returned to his native home of Varnville to care for his wife who died in 2005. 

Preceding him in death in addition to his wife and parents were one son, Keith Joyner; one granddaughter, Shadaiah M. Joyner; two sisters: Earline Joyner-Clark and Pearline Joyner; Five brothers: Earl Joyner, Mackie L. Joyner, Emeret Joyner, Lester Joyner, and Joe F. Joyner; 

To cherish the life and memories of Mr. Johnnie Lee Joyner are his children: Bobby J. Joyner of Lumberton, North Carolina, Mrs. Izella Joyner-Eckford of Ladys Island, South Carolina, Mr. Jeral (Valerie) Joyner of Ladys Island, South Carolina, and Sabrina Joyner-Fields of St. Helena Island, South Carolina; (9) Grandchildren: Dominique A. Eckford, Joanna T. McKnight, Shakerra T. Eckford, Jahliel J. Joyner, Marie K. Hightower, Shanaide N. Eckford, Kyheem D. Joyner, Quaashir S. Eckford, and Beliek M. Joyner; (8) Great grandchildren; (1) Sister, Ms. Mary Louise Joyner; (2) Brothers: Mr. Cecil Joyner and Mr. James L. (Patricia) Joyner; (4) Sisters-in-law: Ms. Deborah Grant of Varnville, South Carolina, Ms. Luemesia Grant of St. Helena Island, South Carolina, Ms. Elizabeth Joyner of Patterson New Jersey, and Ms. Virgie Joyner of Hampton, South Carolina.; (3) Brothers-in-law: Mr. Roy Clark of Patterson, New Jersey, Mr. Leonard Grant, Jr. of Brooklyn, New York, and Mr. Willie James Grant of Hampton, South Carolina; Other relatives and friends.
