Zion Baptist Church, Lees, South Carolina.  Pastor Freddie Wright, Sr. is the pastor and eulogist.  Interment service will be conducted in the church cemetery.

The family is receiving friends at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Shaneka DeLoach, 101 Beaver Dam Apartments in Blackville or on Tuesday evening, January 17, 2012 from 6-8:00 P.M. in the sanctuary of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 3572 Dexter Avenue, Blackville, South Carolina.  Washington’s Funeral Home of Hampton has been entrusted with final arrangements.

On Friday, January 13, 2012, one of God’s children slept away to humble submission as Margaret Ann Gadsden went home to rest.  Ms. Gadsden was one of two siblings born July 31, 1956 to Margaret Donaldson Gadsden and the late Mr. Harold E. Gadsden, Sr.

Margaret Ann Gadsden joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Lees, South Carolina at an early age.  There she remained a faithful member for her entire life.

“Ann”, as she was fondly called by her friends and love ones, attended the Blackville Public Schools from which she graduated in 1974.  She was a 1979 graduate of Voorhees College, Denmark, South Carolina.

She was employed as a teacher for thirty (30) years at Aiken-Barnwell Regional Headstart Child Development Program.

Left to cherish her memory are: A loving mother, Margaret D. Gadsden of Blackville, South Carolina; (1) Daughter, Shaneka DeLoach (Bill) of Blackville, South Carolina; (2) Sons: Andre L Gadsden and Andrew D. Smith of the home; (5) Sisters: Brenda G. Blake of Hornell, New York, Edith Gadsden of Rochester, New York, Okeena Gadsden of Hornell, New York, Madelin Barkins of Syracuse, New York and Michelle Ross of Williston, South Carolina; (4) Brothers: Harold Gadsden (Retha) of Blackville, South Carolina, Harold Ross of Williston, South Carolina, David Gadsden of Hornell, New York and Clary Young (Clary Ann) of Blackville, South Carolina; (3) Aunts: Mattie Salley of Blackville, South Carolina, Frances M. DeLoach, London Gadsden, Simone Gadsden and Bilaysia DeLoach; A devoted friend, Carlos E. Lowe of Columbia, South Carolina;  An adopted niece, Johnetta Joyner of Blackville, South Carolina.

“Ann’s” main objective in life was to encourage others and to look for the “positive” in whatever situation she endured.  She never complained about anything.  And, she loved getting her hair and nails done!
