Evangelist Katha Jean Green, affectionately known as “Kat” to family and friends, was born May 18, 1962 in Allendale, South Carolina to Deacon Johnnie Moore Sr. and Sarah Moore. She was called from labor to reward on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Hampton Regional Medical Center, Varnville, South Carolina.
Evangelist Katha Jean Green was a 1979 graduate of Wade Hampton High School, Hampton, South Carolina where she participated in track, cheerleading, softball and was crowned 1979 Homecoming Queen.
She married Pastor Benjamin Green, Sr. in 1982 and to this union three boys and three girls were born. In addition to her children, she also reared their oldest grandchild, Nykel from infancy.
Everyone enjoyed being in her presence. She always knew how to make others laugh and kept a smile on her face which was immensely contagious. As a child, Evangelist Green attended St. Stevens Holiness Church located in Hampton, South Carolina. In 1990, at the age of 28, she gave her life to Christ and became a member of Bethel Holiness Church, Camp Branch Community of Varnville, South Carolina. Evangelist Katha Jean Green was always represented as a woman that stood on God’s word. It was paramount to her to instill the teachings of Christ into her children, nieces and nephews.
Evangelist Green was known for being outspoken and outgoing. She loved good food, socializing and spending time with family and friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Julie Moore and brother, Levi Moore.
She is survived by her husband, Pastor Benjamin Franklin Green, Sr. of the home; (3) Sons: Ranolda Rashadd Green, Benjamin Franklin Green, Jr. and Mi’Kell Jameze Green; (3) Daughters: Nakita Rasheen Green, Tearra LaShae Green and Alexis Anastasia Green; (7) Grandchildren: Nykel, Josiah, Nariyana, Jordan, Kaci, Karter, and Kamden, all of Hampton, South Carolina; Her parents, Deacon Johnnie and Mrs. Sarah Moore of Hampton, South Carolina; (3) Sisters: Patricia Gordon of Hampton, South Carolina, Pastor Barbara Johnson of Statesboro, Georgia and Consuela J.
